VOLVO MERCHANDISE – The Way I See It

VOLVO Cars ha sido y es una empresa muy ‘conservadora’ – en mi opinión.

Si lo sabré yo, que hace unos 20 años les envié estos ‘diseños/bocetos’ cuando caí en que el nombre de la marca sueca de coches tenía la característica –única en el mundo- que sus consonantes «V», «L» y «V» se adaptaban a la forma de la carrocería y las dos vocales “O” a las ruedas/neumáticos del coche, facilitando así escribir el nombre de la marca siguiendo las ‘líneas’ del perfil del coche.

De cualquier coche…

Si un profesional en diseño gráfico diseñara las ‘chapuzas’ que yo he hecho con el ordenador, aparentarían naturalmente mucho mejor!.

Que yo sepa, no hay otra marca de coche en el mundo que pueda hacer alarde de esta peculiaridad.

Les propuse si podrían ‘explotar’ esta ‘exclusiva mundial’ imprimiéndola en camisetas, tazas de café, niquis, cazadoras, etc., en sus páginas Volvo Merchandise, donde venden diferentes productos con el logotipo Volvo. Hace 20 años y hace unas semanas otra vez.

Hace como un par de décadas atrás me contestaron que no podían usar otro tipo de fuente que la que utilizan en su logotipo.

La respuesta ahora ha sido más o menos la misma que entonces. Los de Volvo Personvagnar/Volvo Cars en Gotemburgo son más conservadores que la iglesia católica. No son capaces de ver que tienen una peculiaridad que ninguna otra marca de coches tiene.

Ahora contestan “Tenemos reglas/instrucciones a seguir al crear productos de merchandising que son establecidas por el Grupo Volvo así que no podemos desviarnos de ellas”.

También escribí al Zhejiang Geely Holding Group en China que es la propietaria de Volvo Cars desde el 2010. De China brillaron las respuestas por su ausencia…

Y así está la cosa.

En las imágenes arriba puedes ver los bocetos que hice sobre la peculiaridad única – exclusiva mundial (que Volvo Cars tiene pero que no es capaz de ver) «como yo lo veo», «a mi manera», o como el título de la famosa canción, «I did it my way».

I should know, for about 20 years ago I sent these ‘designs/sketches’ when I noticed on that the name of the Swedish car brand had the world-unique peculiarity in their consonants «V», «L» and «V» that these were adapted to the car body and the two vowels «O» to the wheels/tires of the car, making it easier to write the name of the brand following the ‘lines’ of the car’s profile. If a professional in graphic design should design these ‘bunglings’ I’ve done with the computer, should appear naturally much better!.

To my knowledge, there is no other car brand in the world that can boast about this peculiarity.

I suggested to them that they could merchandise this ‘world exclusive’ printed onto shirts, coffee mugs, T-shirts, jackets, etc., in their Volvo Merchandise pages, where they sell different products with the Volvo logo.

They (Volvo Cars in Gothenburg) replied me about a couple of decades ago that they could not use another font/source than the one they used in their logo.

The answer now has been more or less the same as then. Volvo Personvagnar Volvo/Volvo Cars in Gothenburg are more conservative than the Catholic Church… They are not capable to see that they have a peculiarity that no other car brand has.

They answer now  «We have guidelines to follow when creating merchandise …».

I also wrote to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group in China which owns Volvo Cars since 2010. From China the answers shone by their absence…

And that was it.
